Due to the high fuel cost, the electricity, produced by diesel generators is extremely expensive as high as 0,5 Euro/kWh. In combination with PV system with similar size, the energy mix cost could be reduced up to 40%.

 

The system operation in off-grid mode requires specific inverter and diesel generator management. A special system (under development) monitors the energy consumption and energy generation by the PV system, as the diesel generator keeps always running at minimum power and accelerates in case of lack of solar radiation. The combination of PV and diesel generated power with preferential use of PV power reduces the fuel consumption up to 40% and substantially reduces the electricity cost.

The system is under development and will be available in the beginning of 2014.
